New Seattle house, new Seattle garden

In one day this new house’s yard was transformed into a lovely entry garden.

Large boulders, a new maple and two lilacs create the “bones” of the garden. Small shrubs, perennials and groundcovers complete the look.

A dry stream bed channels overflow water to percolate into the soil instead of washing it away.

Looking across the yard, before.

The view after planting.

A shady area adjacent to the front patio is a problem area for plants.

Plants that will do well in a dry shade brighten this shady area.
