Fine gardening focal points

Focal points are an essential part of landscape design. They attract your attention and give your eyes a place to focus or rest. This is especially important in the spring and summer when gardens are overflowing with flowers and color.  Garden focal points can be objects like the bird bath in this picture:

Plants can also serve as focal points.  We were very pleased that Fine Gardening Magazine asked us to choose our favorite focal point plants for the Pacific Northwest and write an article about their qualities.  The June edition of Fine Gardening features our article as well as other information useful to gardeners.  This is a magazine designed for garden lovers so we encourage you to pick up a copy now on sale.
